Davao City | Landmarks


People’s Park

People’s Park is one of the best places to visit here in Davao City. It is located in Camus St. cor. Palma Gil. It was opened to public in year 2007. Since then, People’s Park was one destination people would love to visit even on an ordinary day.
People’s Park is a 3.7 hectare park. It is accentuated with statues made by the local artist Kublai. This park also has different kind of falls and ponds which caters different kinds of fishes on it. People’s Park is composed of different forest replicas from around the world. They have a great lawn which you can spend time having fun with your family or friends or even just having a simple picnic around. This park also has a rainbow drive which literally bears the rainbow colors. One of the highlights of this one-of –a-kind park is their dancing fountain grooving into the music.

Other activities you can and will enjoy inside the perimeters of this park is the daily jogging time and every Sunday aerobics lead by the special instructors. This every Sunday aerobics is brought by the government of Davao City for the people. After having a great time in aerobics you can enjoy the free meal they serve for the joggers. This activity is not just for the Davaoeños but for everyone who wants to have a great time in shaping their health.

China Town

China Town is a large area here in Davao where Chinese businessmen open their businesses.  China Town is located at Uyanguren St. which is renamed and now known as “name of the street”, this simple town is composed of different stores that cater different needs the people are able to see and choose. Along the street you will see vendors everywhere that give you the feeling of being in a shopping street. During night time, China Town transforms into a night market that gives buyers the most out of their budgets.

China Town is not just a simple shopping place as what you think. It is also a place of style and fashion here in Davao City because there are a lot of stores that caters different kinds of clothes, shoes and bags in here. You can also see people wearing their fashionable styles around the street. The products are highly admired because of its quality and quantity with which people will not be out of stocks. And everything you see is at what we call the right price, very affordable.

Today, China Town is still growing fast because a lot of investors are coming in and it is now one of the fastest industrialized areas of Davao City.

Davao City | Newly Built Shopping Malls

Davao City’s economy has been growing so fast that several changes have been made in a matter of time. Before, there are only few shopping malls available here in Davao City. Today, however, there have been some changes that even people in Davao have been very much happy about. New shopping malls have been made and just opened last year 2011 and this year 2012. The malls are namely Abreeza and SM Lanang. These shopping malls offer more services and activities that people will surely enjoy.





Abreeza






This modern styled shopping mall is one of the branches Ayala Malls have all over the Philippines. Abreeza was opened last May 12, 2011 located at Bajada in front of Redemptorist Church Davao City. This huge mall offer a lot of choices in style and fashion, great food and great cinema experience. Abreeza is very popular among Davaoeños because it is situated at the downtown area of Davao and very accessible when commuting. Abreeza has its own entertainment area located at the very center of the mall and can accommodate lots of people. There is also a wide variety of foods offered in their grocery department. They also have a food hall located at the balcony of the mall which caters the people not just good choices of restaurants and foods but also a great view of Davao City and a little bit of Samal Island. Abreeza also offers indoor playground for the kids and a mini park located at the front of the mall. Abreeza has a lot to offer that surely you’ll love roaming around every corner of this great shopping mall.

SM Lanang







SM Lanang had been opened to the public last October 24, 2012. It is located in Lanang almost in front of Damosa Gateway. This shopping mall is not just a crib for the usual things. SM Lanang offers a great experience not just for the Davaoeños but also for the visitors of Davao City. This mall had a great area that surrounded by popular brand stores known to the people. This area serves as a “great lawn” for the events that soon will be held inside this mall. SM Lanang also offers a great experience in cinema because of its new IMAX 3D where you’ll see movies like in real life. New restaurants have been also introduced to people and a great variety of foods are offered. Today, SM Lanang is not yet totally full because they’re still on the verge of filling in the spaces where the stores should be.

Aside from these mentioned shopping malls above there are also others which offer great choices in fashion and style, restaurants and of course a fun place where kids usually play. These malls are namely: Gaisano Mall of Davao (Bajada), Victoria Plaza (Bajada), Gaisano South (Illustre), NCCC Mall of Davao (Mc Arthur Highway) and SM City Davao (Ecoland). These malls are the first malls of Davao City.

Davao City | Land of Promise

  "Land of Promise" this is what the people of the Philippines call Davao City. The City of Davao in Filipino "Lungsod ng Dabaw", is the largest city in the island of Mindanao in the Philippines and the country's largest in terms of land area. It has the third most significant metropolitan center in the country. It is also the center of trade, commerce, and industry in Mindanao.

  Davao City is also one of several cities in the Philippines that are independent of any province. The city serves as the regional center for Davao Region (Region XI). It has a population of 1,530,365 (2011 census), making it the country's largest city outside Metro Manila and the second overall with the cities of Metro Manila combined. In recent years, Davao City has emerged as the business, investment and tourism hub for the entire southern Philippines.

  The City Mayors Foundation ranks Davao City as the 87th fastest growing city in the world, and it has been listed by the FDI magazine as the 10th "Asian City of the Future".The city has good beaches and mountain resorts, and is close to diving spots and the highest peak in the Philippines, Mount Apo. It was awarded by the Department of Tourism as the "Most Livable City" in the Philippines in 2008.
